Best Fashion Brands for Petite and Curvy Women

If you’re 5ft 3” and under in height, I am sure you would have felt the pain of finding clothing that fit your petite frame properly. As a short woman, I have struggled with finding appropriately fitting clothes for myself for many years. In addition to my short height, I am not thin which has almost always added to the pain of finding well-fitted tops, bottoms and outerwear! Nevertheless, I feel excited and optimistic that now there are brands that offer a good range of clothes for petite and curvy women. In this article I will share with you some of my most favourite brands that I turn to again and again for finding clothing for all occasions that fit the petite and curvy body shape perfectly!

I think my biggest struggle has been finding jeans and trousers that I haven’t had to get altered. I am 4ft 11” which is short even within the petite category so in the early formative years of my life I used to think that I did not conform to what a ‘normal’ girl should look like! When I used to go shopping, some shopkeepers used to suggest that I take a look at the kid’s section and this is when I was 18 years old! So I hope you can imagine my happiness when I found a pair of jeans that I did not have to get altered! This was only about 3 years ago! Since then, I have been searching for brands that cater to petite and curvy women that make us feel content with our bodies.

Here are my most favourite brands. I will continue to review and add to this list in the future.

1) Asos

This is truly my go-to brand for all clothing items in petite sizes. I think the best thing is that they have clothing in different price brackets and a vast range for all occasions. Now that Miss Selfridge and Topshop are a part of ASOS, there will perhaps be an even bigger range for petite women! I have subscribed to their Premier delivery service which is absolutely awesome. 2) Dannii Minogue Petites on QVC

Dannii Minogue Petites range is the newest petites range in the UK at the moment. As I was a part of the launch campaign of this brand, I had the opportunity to try many of its different pieces from trousers and skirts to tops and jackets. Honestly, with this range you will find beautiful fit and gorgeous designs. It is the most inclusive brand out of all the different brands I have included in the list as it offer petite sizes from UK 6 to UK 22.

3) New Look

This is another of my most favourite brand for petite clothing. They have a very good range of casual wear from petite jeans to dresses whose fit is absolutely perfect! They are I would say even more affordable than ASOS but their quality and designs are gorgeous!

4)Boden

Boden is a British brand which offers excellent quality casual and office wear for petites. I particularly love their trousers and dresses which fit petite women perfectly! They are slightly on higher side in terms of shopping budgets but again they focus on sustainability and the higher price of the garments is reflected in the quality of their clothing.

5) River Island

This is one of the brands that offers the most stylish and on trend clothes for the season. I have often noticed that their ranges sell out very quickly. I have bought petite tops, pant suits and workwear from them and they fit like a dream. Their clothing range for petites, however, is not as extensive as that of the three brands above but what they offer is very desirable for any petite woman.

6) Boohoo

This is a fast fashion brand which offers a very good range of clothing to petite and curvy women but again this is fast fashion. This means that their prices are VERY affordable which sometimes can result in compromises to quality. Nevertheless, some of my most liked tops on Instagram are from Boohoo.

7) H&M

H&M have recently started their petite clothing collection. Its not as extensive as what you would be able to buy from ASOS but they have an extensive collection of jeans and trousers for petite women. I also bought two jumpsuits from their petite collection and absolutely love them.

8) Marks and Spencer M&S

Like H&M, M&S have started their petite collection and like them, their full petite range is not as extensive. M&S focus on jeans and trousers and a quick search on their website showed me that they are currently offering 265 styles in jeans and trousers! Well, I’d say that’s a lot to choose from. I also love M&S outerwear. This winter I bought a bright yellow coat from their petite collection which fit me like a dream. My problem with most regular sized coats is that sleeve length is usually too long but this was not the case with the M&S coat!

I hope you find this list useful.  Through my social media accounts, I discovered that the ‘petite and curvy’ body shape is definitely not a small demographic. Countless women message me on Instagram and YouTube about the difficulties they face when purchasing clothing and feel happy after watching my videos and posts where I offer suggestions . So it is in response to these questions that I have compiled a list of my top favourite brands. The majority of the brands below are high street brands offering low to mid-range priced clothing. They offer sizes from UK 6 to UK 16 and also offer plus sized clothing. Unfortunately, high end fashion brands still don’t cater to the petite and curvy demographic but I hope that this will change in the near future.
